One can never step into the same river twice.

For once his foot has departed from the water, the river has changed.

It is in this nature that I say that one can never be presented with the same opportunity twice. Those men with greater luck may be given another opportunity similar to the one forgone. The rest of us, however, can only imagine the number of footsteps to the horizon.

When presented an opportunity, he who uses his mind will remain in the comfort of security. Although he trusts that he will never fail, he does not realize that he has failed to live.

When presented an opportunity, he who uses his heart will remain in the comfort of love. Although he trusts that he will never be abandoned, he does not realize life has abandoned him.

However it is he who uses his body to grasp, to feel, to walk that will truly live life. Although he may believe that he has abandoned security and love, he does not realize that security and love do not abandon him. And when he eventually reaches the destination on his journey to the horizon, he will — for the first time in his life — know the number of footsteps that it took.

Thus, remember this:

An opportunity lost is an opportunity lost forever.

((haha sorry if this is a lil’ 16th century and crap but i jus saw “dead poet’s society” and i wanna be all philosophical and intelligent…))
